The Windsor Castle on Campden Hill Road was built in the 1830s, in the days when this part of Kensington was still semi-rural and it was said that Windsor Castle itself could be seen from the upper windows on a clear day — hence the name. The pub has survived remarkably intact for nearly two centuries.
Its interior is divided into three small rooms — historically the Sherry Bar, the Campden Bar, and the Private Bar — each separated by oak partitions and connected by famously tiny, low doorways that customers must duck through. This rare surviving layout gives the pub a uniquely intimate and historic character.
