South Bank Riverside Walk
About South Bank Riverside Walk
London's classic riverside stroll, from Westminster Bridge to Tower Bridge along the south side of the Thames, passing the London Eye, Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe and Borough Market.
History
This route follows part of the Thames Path and the Jubilee Walkway, created in 1977 to mark the Queen's Silver Jubilee.
Since the 1990s, the South Bank has changed from a run-down industrial riverfront into one of London's busiest cultural districts.
What to Expect
The route is flat, paved and almost entirely step-free, so it works well with buggies and wheelchairs. It gets very busy on sunny weekends, so go early in the morning for a quieter walk. Plenty of cafes and toilets line the way.
