Camden Market
About Camden Market
A sprawling canal-side market with hundreds of shops and stalls selling vintage fashion, crafts, music and street food from around the world, open seven days a week.
History
Camden Market began in 1974 as a small weekend crafts market at Camden Lock, beside the Regent's Canal. It grew rapidly into a sprawling network of markets, including the former horse hospital and stables that once served the canal and railway.
Camden became synonymous with punk, goth and alternative fashion and music. Today the market spans several connected sites and attracts millions of visitors a year, while still keeping its independent and eclectic spirit.
What to Expect
Expect a lively, busy atmosphere, a dizzying choice of street food and plenty of independent traders. Weekends are the most crowded, so a weekday visit is more relaxed. Eat by the canal, browse the vintage stalls in the Stables Market and walk along the towpath to Little Venice or King's Cross.
