The Best Viewpoints in London (2026)

Sky-high observation decks and free skyline views — the best places to see London from above.

There's no better way to grasp the scale of London than from high above. The capital offers a growing collection of observation decks and skyline viewpoints — some ticketed, several completely free. Here are the best places to see London from up high. Prices and access change, and some decks close for maintenance, so always check before you go. The View from The Shard — from around £24–35

Western Europe's tallest building offers 360-degree panoramas from floors 68, 69 and 72, with tickets generally starting from around £24 to £35 depending on booking. Sunset slots are the most sought-after. Note that ongoing 2026 maintenance has affected access to level 72, so check the latest status before visiting.

Sky Garden & Horizon 22 — free with booking

For spectacular views at no cost, the Sky Garden atop the 'Walkie Talkie' and Horizon 22 — one of the highest free viewing galleries in Europe — both offer pre-booked free timed entry. They're among the best-value experiences in the whole city.

Beyond the decks

London's skyline can also be enjoyed from Greenwich Park, Primrose Hill, Parliament Hill on Hampstead Heath and the IFS Cloud Cable Car over the Thames — mostly free or low-cost ways to take in the city from above.
