Home to the famous dinosaur galleries, a blue whale skeleton, and hands-on discovery zones, the Natural History Museum in South Kensington is a guaranteed hit with children. Entry is free, though special exhibitions may require tickets booked in advance.
The Royal Parks
From boating on the Serpentine in Hyde Park to the playgrounds and deer of Richmond Park, London's Royal Parks offer free, open-air fun for all ages. The Diana Memorial Playground in Kensington Gardens, with its giant pirate ship, is a particular favourite for younger children.
London Zoo & the Science Museum
ZSL London Zoo in Regent's Park brings families face-to-face with penguins, lions, and gorillas, while the interactive galleries at the Science Museum let kids learn through play. Both are excellent rainy-day options when you need to stay indoors.
